Dan's crew loads your Wellington home, drives the truck onto the ferry and unloads it in Picton, Blenheim, Nelson, the West Coast or Christchurch. You get a fixed quote within 1 working day.
Your furniture crosses Cook Strait on our truck. The ferry takes about 3.5 hours from Wellington to Picton. Dan books the truck's sailing, on either Interislander or Bluebridge depending on the crossing, and puts the fare in your fixed price, so you have one booking to make: ours.
Every South Island move is priced on its own, because the load, the crew and the access at both ends all move the number.

Picton is the shortest South Island run. The truck rolls off the ferry in Picton and Blenheim is about 30 minutes south on SH1. A Wellington to Picton move is a recent RelocatioNZ job.
Moving into the Marlborough Sounds? Tell us early. Dan does take Sounds jobs, but some properties out there have boat-only access or long, narrow roads, so he needs to plan for it.
Nelson is about 2 hours past Picton, over the hills on SH6 through Havelock and Rai Valley. We have run this route recently, and Richmond, Stoke, Tāhunanui and Motueka are all within reach.
With the ferry in the middle, a Nelson move usually runs over two days. Dan agrees the pick-up and delivery times with you when he quotes.
A recent RelocatioNZ run went from Wellington to Nelson, then down the West Coast. From Nelson, SH6 runs through the Buller Gorge to Westport, then down the coast to Greymouth and Hokitika. Allow a full day of driving past Picton.
Coast roads close for slips and floods at times, so Dan plans a buffer into the schedule and calls you if a road shuts.
Christchurch is about 4.5 hours past Picton on SH1, down the Kaikōura coast. Add the ferry and loading time and most Christchurch moves take two days. We cover Christchurch suburbs plus Rolleston, Rangiora and Kaiapoi.
Our crew loads your home in Wellington and unloads the same truck at your new door, with no depot or freight transfer on either side of the Strait.
Book early. A week is the minimum, and an early booking gives Dan time to find a backload for the trip north.

We enlisted the services of Dan and his Team for our shift from storage in Palmerston North to present our property prior to going on the market in Belmont, Lower Hutt We could not praise Relocationz more highly . The shift included very fragile items and also extremely heavy items accumulated from five generational properties. We personally found the prospect of getting our 'treasures' out of storage after 10 years particularly daunting, however the "Relocationz" Team didn't blink an eyelid. They arrived in Palmerston North at 10am and the furniture had been placed in the double storied house in Lower Hutt by the end of the day. We also called on Dan and his team member to assist with reloading and stacking our container after various items had been re-packed. They also offered to take items to the Salvation Army for us, which we were hugely appreciative of as we were under a particularly tight time-frame. The property has since successfully sold and we will once again enlist the services of Dan and his Team with regard to vacant possession prior to settlement. Thank you Dan and the Team at 'Relocationz' Megan and Richard Lower Hutt

WOW!! Much deserved 5 stars. Dan and his team are prompt, have very clear communication and overall hard workers. I would recommend these guys over anyone else, if you want the job done properly and efficiently with no hassle, hire them. Moved an entire house just over 2 hours.

Update 06.09.26- I have used Relocationz ltd for my 3rd move and they were great yet again! I’ve used Relocationz for both my moves now and they’ve been great each time! Speedy and reliable, a great service. The second move was done a steep zig zag path and they were so helpful and managed it without a problem! I’ve recommended them to friends and will definitely use them again when I next move. Dan and David were friendly and had great communication too!

5 stars isn’t enough! Absolutely incredible service. I am so grateful to have found such a trustworthy, efficient and even affordable moving company. It was relatively short notice too and they fit me in. They smashed the job, quickly and safely. They were kind, easygoing and professional! Thank you so much, Dan, for moving my house. Would recommend you in a heartbeat!

RelocatioNZ moves homes from Wellington to Picton, Blenheim, Nelson, the West Coast and Christchurch in one truck with one crew. The truck crosses Cook Strait on the ferry, about 3.5 hours, and Dan books the sailing. Nelson is about 2 hours past Picton. You get a fixed price within 1 working day. Call 027 364 9590.
There is no standard price, because an intercity move can run from a single mover with a part load to a three-person crew and a full truck. Your quote includes loading, the ferry crossing for the truck, unloading and the drive back. A backload for the return trip lowers the price. Dan sends a fixed quote within 1 working day.
Not for your furniture. Dan books the truck onto the ferry and includes the fare in your price. You only book your own crossing, or fly, if you are travelling separately. Tell us your travel plans so delivery matches your arrival.
Cook Strait sailings get cancelled in rough weather. If your sailing is cancelled, we take the next available one and keep you updated on the new delivery time. Your things stay on our truck while we wait, so nothing gets unloaded or handled again at the terminal.
Yes. A move heading north can fit as a backload after a South Island job, which can mean a lower price for you. Send your town, your Wellington address and your dates through the form, and Dan will check the runs coming up.
RelocatioNZ does not carry goods in transit insurance. The crew wraps and blankets your furniture and treats it as their own, but cover for loss or damage sits with you. That is the case on the ferry too. Check with your own contents insurer that your things are covered in transit across Cook Strait, and list valuable items with your insurer before moving day.
Tell us where you are going and Dan replies within 1 working day.
