Shop and store moves, Wellington region

Retail movers in Wellington who shift your shop after closing time

Stock, shelving, counters, display cabinets and signage moved after closing time, so your shop misses as few trading hours as possible. Movers from $135 an hour.

  • Moves planned around your trading hours
  • Stock boxed and labelled by section, so it goes straight back on the right shelves
  • Site visit and written quote before move day

From the back room to the front window

  • Stock

Boxed and labelled by section or aisle, loaded in order and unloaded to match the layout of the new store.

  • Fixtures and fittings

Gondola shelving, clothing racks, counters, glass display cabinets, fridges and freezers. If it comes apart, the crew takes it apart and rebuilds it at the new shop.

  • Signage and displays

Freestanding signs, sandwich boards, window displays and mannequins, wrapped for the trip. Anything bolted to the building needs a signwriter to take down and reinstall, and we move it between the sites.

  • Back of house

Office desks, storeroom racking and stock coming from a warehouse or storage unit.

Mall rules, loading hours and glass cabinets

  • Shopping centre rules

Queensgate in Lower Hutt, North City in Porirua and Coastlands in Paraparaumu set their own move-in times, dock bookings and paperwork. Centre management approval can take a few days, so ask early.

  • Street access

Cuba Mall is pedestrian only, and Wellington City Council limits vehicle access to set delivery hours. Check the current times with the council before you pick your moving slot. Shops on Lambton Quay, Courtenay Place and Jackson Street in Petone rely on busy loading zones.

  • Fragile fixtures

Glass cabinets, mirrors and lit displays take longer to wrap and load.

  • Stock volume

A boutique with 40 cartons moves faster than a hardware store with 400. Pack and label stock before the crew arrives to cut the hours.

  • Timing

Moving after closing or on a Sunday keeps you trading, and costs the same hourly rate as a weekday.

Your shop move in three steps

  1. Site visit

Dan checks both premises, the loading access and your fixture list, and asks when you plan to close and reopen.

  2. Quote and plan

A written quote, the move window and a labelling system matched to the new store layout.

  3. Move and set up

The crew moves the fixtures first, then the stock by section, so your team can restock the shelves the next morning.

Shop moving questions

Can you move our shop without closing during trading hours?

Yes, in most cases. The crew moves after closing time or across a weekend, so you shut the old shop on Saturday afternoon and open the new one when the stock is back on the shelves. Dan plans the move window with you at the free site visit, and there is no after-hours surcharge.

Do you take apart and rebuild shelving?

Yes. The crew dismantles anything that can come apart, gondola shelving and racking included, and puts it back together at the new shop. Freestanding shelving, racks and counters can also move as they are. For fixed or complex shop fittings, your shopfitter removes and installs them, and RelocatioNZ handles the transport between sites.

How do you keep our stock organised?

Stock is boxed and labelled by section or aisle, using the same labels marked on the new store's floor plan. The crew loads each section together and unloads it into the matching area, so your staff restock one section at a time instead of sorting a mixed pile of cartons.

Can you move stock between our warehouse and the shop?

Yes. RelocatioNZ has moved warehouse stock before and can run stock from a storage unit or warehouse in Seaview, Petone or Porirua to your shop. Regular runs are charged at the hourly rate. Tell Dan the volume and how often, and he will suggest one mover or two.

How much does it cost to move a shop in Wellington?

A small shop move with two movers and a truck costs $210 per hour including GST, which is $182.61 plus GST. The total depends on stock volume, fixtures, glass cabinets and access at both sites, including mall rules. Dan gives you a written quote after the site visit.
