Two ways to the Bay, both about 4 hours
Napier and Hastings are each about 4 hours from Wellington in a car. Dan picks the road that suits your load and the conditions on the day.
Through the Wairarapa. SH2 over the Remutaka Hill, through Featherston, Carterton and Masterton, then north through Woodville, Dannevirke and Waipukurau.
Through Manawatū. SH1 north through Transmission Gully and Levin to Palmerston North, then east across the ranges to Woodville and on up SH2.
Dan counts anything up to about 13 hours as a single day, and allows roughly 2 hours to load and 2 hours to unload on top of the drive. On that basis plenty of Hawke's Bay moves fit into one day. A big house or tricky access at either end pushes it into a second. He sets the pick-up and delivery times with you when he quotes.
Napier Hill, Havelock North and lifestyle blocks
Tell us about access at the new place when you book. Napier Hill has narrow, steep streets where a truck may not park at the door, so the crew carries further. Havelock North and the country around Hastings have lifestyle blocks with long driveways and gravel. With the detail up front, Dan prices the carry into your fixed quote instead of surprising you on the day.
Your furniture stays with the crew who packed it
Container and freight services can pass your things through depots and load them alongside other freight. Our crew loads in Wellington and unloads in the Bay, and nobody else touches your boxes in between.

We enlisted the services of Dan and his Team for our shift from storage in Palmerston North to present our property prior to going on the market in Belmont, Lower Hutt We could not praise Relocationz more highly . The shift included very fragile items and also extremely heavy items accumulated from five generational properties. We personally found the prospect of getting our 'treasures' out of storage after 10 years particularly daunting, however the "Relocationz" Team didn't blink an eyelid. They arrived in Palmerston North at 10am and the furniture had been placed in the double storied house in Lower Hutt by the end of the day. We also called on Dan and his team member to assist with reloading and stacking our container after various items had been re-packed. They also offered to take items to the Salvation Army for us, which we were hugely appreciative of as we were under a particularly tight time-frame. The property has since successfully sold and we will once again enlist the services of Dan and his Team with regard to vacant possession prior to settlement. WOW!! Much deserved 5 stars. Dan and his team are prompt, have very clear communication and overall hard workers. I would recommend these guys over anyone else, if you want the job done properly and efficiently with no hassle, hire them. Moved an entire house just over 2 hours.

Update 06.09.26- I have used Relocationz ltd for my 3rd move and they were great yet again! I’ve used Relocationz for both my moves now and they’ve been great each time! Speedy and reliable, a great service. The second move was done a steep zig zag path and they were so helpful and managed it without a problem! I’ve recommended them to friends and will definitely use them again when I next move. Dan and David were friendly and had great communication too!

The short answer

Wellington to Hawke's Bay moving questions
How much does it cost to move from Wellington to Napier?
There is no standard price, because an intercity move can run from a single mover with a part load to a three-person crew and a full truck. Your price depends on how much you are moving, the truck and crew it needs, access at both ends, and whether Dan has a backload for the return drive. You get a fixed quote within 1 working day, so the total stays the same on moving day.
Do you cover Hastings, Havelock North and Taradale as well?
Yes. Napier, Taradale, Hastings, Havelock North, Clive and Flaxmere all sit within a short drive of each other, and we quote the whole Bay. Rural addresses further out, such as Waipukurau or Wairoa, can be quoted too. Put the full address in the form.
Can you move a Wairarapa house to Hawke's Bay?
Yes. SH2 runs straight from Masterton to Hastings, so a Wairarapa pick-up works well. Dan can quote a move starting anywhere from Featherston to Masterton and finishing in the Bay. Tell us both addresses in the quote form, plus any lifestyle block access details.
Do you move from Hawke's Bay to Wellington?
Yes. A move heading south can fit as a backload after a job in the Bay, which can mean a lower price for you. Send your Hawke's Bay address and your dates through the form, and Dan will check the runs coming up.
Are my belongings insured?
RelocatioNZ does not carry goods in transit insurance. The crew wraps and blankets your furniture and treats it as their own, but cover for loss or damage sits with you. Check with your contents insurer that items are covered while they travel between Wellington and Hawke's Bay, and list anything valuable before moving day. Tell Dan about fragile pieces so he can plan how to load them.
