| Route from Wellington | Rough drive time (car) | Route page |
|---|---|---|
| Palmerston North | About 2 hours | Wellington to Palmerston North |
| Napier and Hastings | About 4 hours | Wellington to Napier and Hastings |
| New Plymouth | About 4.5 hours | Wellington to New Plymouth |
| Auckland | About 8 hours | Wellington to Auckland |
| Picton and Blenheim | About 3.5 hours on the ferry | Wellington to Picton and Blenheim |
| Nelson | Ferry, then about 2 hours past Picton | Wellington to Nelson |
| West Coast | Ferry, then a full day's drive | Wellington to the West Coast |
| Christchurch | Ferry, then about 4.5 hours past Picton | Wellington to Christchurch |
Whanganui, Taupō, Hamilton and Tauranga are quoted on request.
Drive times are rough car times. A loaded truck with legal rest breaks takes longer, and we build that into your quote. Dan counts anything up to about 13 hours, loading and unloading included, as a single day.
Local moves are charged by the hour. Intercity moves get a fixed price, so you know the total before the truck leaves Wellington.
Every intercity move is priced on its own. Truck size, how much you are moving, the crew it needs and the access at both ends all move the number, so Dan quotes each job rather than publishing a from price that would be wrong for most people.

Get my South Island priceDan works out your price from four things: how much you are moving, the hours to load and unload, the drive there, and the drive back. South Island quotes also include the ferry crossing for the truck, which Dan books and pays for.
These are the runs we are asked for most. There is no fixed timetable, so your move is planned around your date rather than a scheduled service, and Dan moves anywhere in the country. If your town is not on the list, ask anyway.
If we line up a paying load for the return leg, your quote drops.
Container and freight services often collect your things, take them through a depot and ship them alongside other people's goods. Every extra forklift and transfer is another chance for a scratched table or a lost box.
Our truck loads at your door in the Wellington region and drives straight to your new address. The people who packed the truck unload it, so they know where the fragile boxes sit and which drawers are heavy. Every job runs door to door, with no depot stop and no other freight on board.
There is no set timetable, so each intercity move is planned around your date. The earlier you book, the better the chance Dan can match your move with a return load, and that saving goes into your price. Give him at least a week where you can. Flexible on the date by a few days? Tell us in the form.

We enlisted the services of Dan and his Team for our shift from storage in Palmerston North to present our property prior to going on the market in Belmont, Lower Hutt We could not praise Relocationz more highly . The shift included very fragile items and also extremely heavy items accumulated from five generational properties. We personally found the prospect of getting our 'treasures' out of storage after 10 years particularly daunting, however the "Relocationz" Team didn't blink an eyelid. They arrived in Palmerston North at 10am and the furniture had been placed in the double storied house in Lower Hutt by the end of the day. We also called on Dan and his team member to assist with reloading and stacking our container after various items had been re-packed. They also offered to take items to the Salvation Army for us, which we were hugely appreciative of as we were under a particularly tight time-frame. The property has since successfully sold and we will once again enlist the services of Dan and his Team with regard to vacant possession prior to settlement. Thank you Dan and the Team at 'Relocationz' Megan and Richard Lower Hutt

WOW!! Much deserved 5 stars. Dan and his team are prompt, have very clear communication and overall hard workers. I would recommend these guys over anyone else, if you want the job done properly and efficiently with no hassle, hire them. Moved an entire house just over 2 hours.

Update 06.09.26- I have used Relocationz ltd for my 3rd move and they were great yet again! I’ve used Relocationz for both my moves now and they’ve been great each time! Speedy and reliable, a great service. The second move was done a steep zig zag path and they were so helpful and managed it without a problem! I’ve recommended them to friends and will definitely use them again when I next move. Dan and David were friendly and had great communication too!

5 stars isn’t enough! Absolutely incredible service. I am so grateful to have found such a trustworthy, efficient and even affordable moving company. It was relatively short notice too and they fit me in. They smashed the job, quickly and safely. They were kind, easygoing and professional! Thank you so much, Dan, for moving my house. Would recommend you in a heartbeat!

RelocatioNZ is a Wellington moving company that runs intercity moves to Palmerston North, Hawke's Bay, New Plymouth, Auckland and the South Island. You get a fixed price quote within 1 working day, and your load stays on one truck with one crew from door to door. Backload runs can lower the price. Call Dan on 027 364 9590.
It depends on the size of your load, loading time and the distance there and back. RelocatioNZ gives you a fixed price inc GST within 1 working day, so the number stays put on moving day. A paying backload for the trip home brings your price down. Call 027 364 9590.
Yes. We take the truck across Cook Strait on the ferry to Picton, then on to Blenheim, Nelson, the West Coast or Christchurch. The crossing takes about 3.5 hours. Dan books the truck's sailing, on either Interislander or Bluebridge, and the fare is in your quote. See the South Island route page for drive times past Picton.
A week is the minimum, and earlier is better. Intercity runs take the truck out of Wellington for one to three days, so dates fill up. An early booking also gives Dan time to find a return load, which lowers your price.
RelocatioNZ does not carry goods in transit insurance. The crew wraps and blankets your furniture and treats it as their own, but cover for loss or damage sits with you. Before moving day, check your own contents policy covers your things in transit between towns, and ask your insurer about high-value items like art or antiques. Tell Dan about anything fragile so he can plan how to load it.
Yes, and it often works out well for you. A move into Wellington can fill the truck on its way home from another job, which means a backload price. Tell us your town and your dates in the form and Dan will check what runs are coming up.
Tell us where you are going and Dan sends a total price within 1 working day.
